Five years ago St. Peter School joined the You Are Loved Mission, and it has impacted our school culture more than we ever expected! The simplicity of this message grabbed our attention, and as a faculty, we believed this was the most important message we wanted to convey to our students and to our community. We wanted our students to know that they are deeply loved by God who created them, by their parents, their friends, and by all of us here at school who they see on a daily basis. We soon realized that while the message is simple enough, the effect of these three words is immeasurable. It didn’t take long for these words to be spoken all throughout our building. Soon our students were decorating the hallways with signs reminding each other that they are loved. Next, we began to see “You are loved” on cards our students were making and sending to veterans, residents in nursing homes, soldiers, first responders, and others in our community. These words are spoken freely and often in our school, and has even impacted the way we speak with our students when discipline is necessary. The You Are Loved Mission simplified our mission and helped us keep it present and alive every single day. We are proud that our students hear this message every day and our prayer is that they remember how truly loved they are even after they leave St. Peter School.
